Manual Osteopath’s with the DO distinction have earned a Doctor of Osteopathy Degree. DOs believe there’s more to good health than the absence of pain or disease. As guardians of wellness, DOs focus on prevention by gaining a deeper understanding of your lifestyle and environment, rather than just treating your symptoms.
It makes a difference when your practitioner is trained to truly listen. To pay more attention to you than your chart. To look beyond the symptoms and take the time to get to know you as a whole person.
Listening to you and partnering in your care are at the heart of our holistic, empathic approach to healthcare. We are trained to promote the body’s natural tendency toward health and self-healing. We practice according to the latest science and use the latest technology.
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, or OMT, is a set of techniques used by Manual Osteopaths to diagnose, treat and prevent illness and injury.
Using OMT, a Manual Osteopath moves a patient’s muscles and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.
OMT can help patients of all ages and backgrounds. In many cases, the treatment can be used to complement, or even replace, drugs or surgery.
Our clinic’s founder and Manual Osteopath, Spencer Jean, DO, DO(MP), MBA treats patient’s of all demographics. Although he has a special interest in Chronic Pain, Sports Injury and Prevention, he does treat a variety of other conditions.
Generally speaking, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment is able to treat most non-surgical orthopaedic conditions.

Spencer is also a Professor at his osteopathy alma mater NUMSS.
Spencer Jean, DO & Associates was established in 2015 as a division of Community Chiropractic Center in Tecumseh, Ontario, when Spencer Jean, DO, DO(MP), MBA joined and expanded the existing practice with his expertise in the field of Osteopathy. In 2022, our clinic evolved and moved into a new office still within Tecumseh Medical Plaza.
Through this expansion, we have been able to provide exceptional care for both existing and new patients throughout our local community and worldwide with having patients traveling from overseas to achieve a better quality of life.
Our approach is simple. We believe in a holistic patient centred approach to healthcare, rather than disease or ailment centred. We understand that no patient is the same as one before and because of that we have adopted an algorithm-like system to provide specific treatment protocols based around the patient and not the patients condition. We also believe in a multi-disciplinary approach for our patients and utilize all of our healthcare experts when it is determined that it is in the best interest of the patient to collaborate as we all have a different approach and skill set to achieve the same goal.
Whether it is acute pain, chronic pain, sports injury, paediatrics, prenatal, postnatal, wellness or performance enhancement, we have a solution for you and your condition. We have a wide variety of patient demographics ranging from new borns, the elderly, professional/ olympic athletes, and everyone in between.
After your schedule your consultation with one of our practitioners, we will go through your health history, perform an in-depth examination, and explain our findings in great detail so you are well educated about your condition and what we can do to help.
We can appreciate that not everyone will respond the same to certain treatments and some patients may be more comfortable to certain treatments. This is why we will give you several different treatment options for your condition. We will explain each option in great detail and what you should expect from each. After discussion, we will come to the right treatment plan for you.
We not only provide clinical treatment for your condition – we also provide you with referrals to other healthcare providers, custom home exercise prescription, nutrition advise, and more! Once you’re condition has been corrected, we will discuss with you how and what you can do to help prevent it from coming back!
